I’m linking up with the divine and gorgeous Kelly from a beautiful life. a happy life. a  life less frantic

As kelly says “Every second Friday I am putting on my creative writing hat and inviting anyone else who is keen along for the ride. They say a picture says 1000 words … well I don’t have time to write 1000 words every second Friday so I have decided that a picture says up to 500 words. The image inspiration for this week is below”

When I look at her, I see myself at the same age. I hear her laughing and shrieking with delight as the waves chase her feet towards the beach. I too remember the game of running before the tips of the creamy white sea touched my feet. How such a simple game can bring so much joy baffles me now but as child it made my heart beat faster and my cheeks hurt from giggling. You could play with your friends or alone, alone as she is now with me watching her every move, wanting to keep this memory forever, encapsulate in my heart and mind: her innocence, her shrieking, her sheer delight for life.

She loves coming here, we are the only ones on this amazing expanse of land just me and her, we have all this to ourselves, we are lucky, we have each other and for that I’m forever grateful.

We will  make today as lasting memory, one that won’t fade too much over time. I want to remember her just like this, forever.

“Dearly beloved” breaks my dream, my memory, my thoughts my little princess is not running on the beach anymore, my princess is about to become a wife. I am a proud father today, my wife squeezes my hand, we’ve been together 19 years, we’ve made many happy memories, they may fade a little and become blurry round the edges but I can shut my eyes and bring them back. Life is made of memories, my daughter will always be my princess, she turns and smiles at me and I can still see her on the beach.

  1. I love this so much – and am especially glad that at least one person found a happy ending in this lovely bright image!!

    • Kelly I promised myself I would not read any link ups or yours before writing mine, I love how we all see different things. I hope to be on time for the next one Nx

  2. The memories, the nostalgia…

Your piece is full of honest feelings, Natalie, and that is always a great thing. Despite not being the biggest fan of happy endings, I enjoyed the read. =) You might want to pay a little more attention to your punctuation, though.
