Martine Oglethorpe – The Modern Parent
Meeting Nathalie online and soon after in real life, it was evident we shared a similar passion for helping families find more joy and experience less stress in their daily lives. Having both worked in education and teaching, Nathalie’s years of experience with child behaviour, couple with my work as a family and youth counsellor, has allowed us to really complement each others work. My own personal experiences of raising 5 boys as well as my professional work and research, is allowing me to impart a very realistic approach, which ensures I am able to get the very best outcomes for families.
My particular interest in the world of online safety and my belief that parents must play the biggest role in ensuring they are helping their kids become safe and responsible digital citizens, has become a large focus of my work. After working with kids and their families I was seeing many similar problems arise which seemed to stem from a lack of understanding between parents and their kids, due mainly to the very different environments our kids wee growing up in. As a result I began focusing much of my attention on helping parents understand what it means to grow up in a digital world, and how they can best help their child navigate the online world in a safe and responsible manner. I also help kids to maintain a balance between their online interactions and their love of technology with real life pursuits and relationships.
Both Nathalie and myself are eager to help families gain the understanding, as well as the skills and strategies, to help them face the many challenges of family life in a modern world.
I love working with Nathalie for her passion, her professionalism and of course for all the laughs.
“Martine I cannot thank you enough for all the work you put in to help Tim* and ultimately myself and my family. Your no no-nonsense approach and empathic nature combined to provide just the right person to help us. I know how much Tim respected you and as a result we have seen great changes in both his behaviour and attitude. The school too has noticed and advised us of his improvements. Thanks again, we are so grateful”.
