Crying Teenager

Crying Teenager

They say that crying is not a sign of weakness, but a sign that someone has been strong for too long.

It somehow helps the pain but at the same time seems to make it so much worse.

I try not to break down in front of my friends even though we know we all feel the same.

The people who pretend to be okay seem to be the ones suffering the most.

We all want someone to care but at the same time we want to be left alone.

We don’t understand ourselves and won’t let anyone else try to.

The attention isn’t wanted but it feels so good to scream and self destruct.

Life is full of things that hurt. Love. Image. School. Parents. People. It all sucks really and that’s all that we have. What next? How can we be the people we want to be without changing who we really are? You reach a stage where you just think: Well, what’s the point?

Our existence essentially is a series of events to prevent our boredom. Happiness seems so far away that the trouble we go through to reach it doesn’t seem worth it a lot of the time. But I want it to be. There’s still so much left to do.

  1. Gillian says

So powerful it made me cry.
God, it’s so hard being a teenager.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel:)

(Nat – My daughter K has written a song to help with this sort of stuff. Don’t know if it might be helpful?)

    • Yes it is hard and this is how they were feeling, I am happy to say they are all reaching much happier places.
The song sound great can use email MP3?

  2. Thanks for sharing. It really is scary to think of our children going through such anguish but I guess we can only hope that they have some way to voice their feelings such as this, and more importantly have someone to listen to them.

  3. I remember feeling like this. In fact, some days I still feel like this. Life, huh…? It’s nothing but a series of tiny events strung like beads on a string.

    • I certainly feel like that on some days, always blogging about it, so at least we are all normal. This crying teen is now crying a lot less and much happier x

  4. Dear Miss R.C,
It’s all too easy for us adults to forget what it was like being a teenager, but reading your post brings the memories back. Feelings of just doing things because you’re meant to, like out of habit, without real purpose or real meaning.
My boys are still far off the teenage years, but I’ll need your help because I want them to get through ok, and maybe even with some good memories.
    Thanks in advance,
    Krys

  5. I especially like that first paragraph – so true.
