Hugs

Hugs are powerful

A hug can speak louder than a thousand words. Sometimes all that is needed is a simple hug. Adults and children alike need hugs . A hug makes us feel special, a hug makes us feel wanted, a hug makes us feel appreciated and loved. A hug means you are not alone.

Hugs have so many meanings

A hug can say I am sorry and a hug can say I love you. A hug can make you feel welcomed and a hug can stop the tears. A hug shows understanding and a hug means it’s OK.

A hug can stop an argument, a hug can change a stressful moment, a hug can stop you in your tracks and make you realise that things are not that bad, a hug is moment that makes you feel good, better and loved.

When you hug someone and they hug back, it makes you feel good and them feel good. It’s a win, win situation. The power of hugs and being tactile are intrinsic to adult and child behaviour.

Hugs should be on your to do list

This week add hugs to your list, they certainly do not take long and see how many you can squeeze into your day.

Hug and kiss those you love the most, reach out and hugs those that needed it and remember it is OK to ask for hugs too.

Happy

Understand

Grateful

Soothing

    I’ll have a hug 🙂

  2. Hugs with my kids are the best hugs EVER! Quick “I love you” hugs, long “I’ll try to fix it” hugs, group “we’re family” hugs – they’re all the best. My favourite are big, squidgy, “I really really love you” hugs.I indulge daily.

    Here’s a “girlfriend” hug for you {{{HUG}}}

OMG! Nathalie. R U a fly on my wall. Every day ur words relate to my dilema? I spent this morning yet again to my special son 7 with Autism. How to hug! He lives to squeeZED his younger sisters 5 times a day which sends them screaming. So thru role play showed him to ask first. Any more tips?

    • Sit with your son and talk about when its Ok to hug and how a hug can be gentle, demonstrate a tight hug and a gentle hug. I use a lot of visual aids which seem to work. Buy a large piece of card and grab a big texta. Draw stick men having a tight hug, saying “ow that hurts” and give them a sad face. Then draw the opposite a gentle hug saying “that’s lovely I like that”. Use his toys to visually demonstrate too. Drop me an email if you need any more tips x

  7. I have found hugs to be very powerful and reinforce positive changes we are making in our whole families behaviour. i love how my son give me a hug “mum i’ll give you one of my hugs to make you all better” is a wonderful thing to hear you know you must be doing something right.

  8. Hugs are on my list every day as many as possible!
