My Happy Place Day Twenty Six

My Happy Place Day Twenty Six

Well that’s another busy week nearly over and I’m happy that I’m able to still post even though I’m pretty tired.

Although busy, I’ve had some awesome connections with both my children this week, both of them getting mummy time. Which  I am always very aware of. Here I am working with so many children, yet at times have minimal time to spend with my own two children.

My mum has been getting moments where she gets very upset and cannot explain why, she lost the ability to form or decribe certain things. This is is my Happy Place because I’ve learnt how to turn it around and make her happy again, especially with the help of Miss 15 and Mr 6, who can make her laugh at the drop of a hat. Mr 6 will hug and kiss her and pull funny faces and put on a impromptu dance show.

I’m also very happy that my hubby is so fabulous with mum too. He always has my back.

So it’s short and sweet tonight and I’m happy that my family are just so lovely to me and mum.

  1. Hi Natalie, I was just enjoying your newest facebook posts. I am always amazed at how you manage to put into words or find a saying that makes my day happier, so thank you!
My happy moment last night was with my Miss 17. Her boyfriend’s birthday is today and she wanted to make him a special electric guitar shaped/decorated cake. She found directions online, BUT my Miss 17 does not cook or bake anyhing but frozen pizza (and believe me, getting her to do that took forever since she is afraid of the oven!) Anyhow, I’m not much of a cook myself, but I LOVE to bake and I’ve taken some cake decorating classes, so she asked if I would “help” her make the cake. The “help” was basically making the cake, cutting the cake into the shape, making the frosting, coloring the frosting and frosting the cake. Miss 17 put the candies on (some m&ms and dots) and used the extra frosting to write a message. Even though it took a lot of my time and I have a paper due for a class I’m taking, I was happy to help her with this project. She stayed in the kitchen with me the whole time (in fact my other two kids did as well). We all talked, laughed, ate extra pieces of cake, played music and they would dance and sing. Seeing my kids enjoy spending time together is definitely a happy place for me. And seeing the excitement of Miss 17 when the cake was done was priceless. I think she thanked me a hundred times. It’s not often I make her this happy, so I am bathing in it right now! 🙂

    • Lynn thanks for your beautiful comment. What a wonderful connection you had with your daughter, I’m sitting here with a giant smile just picturing both of you baking, it was a wonderful gesture on your part and a Happy memory you will treasure. xx

I came to the realisation yesterday, through doing this Happy Challenge, that I have everything in me, or around me that I need to be happy. I have since ‘unliked’ all the blogs and businesses on my Facebook account except, of course, Easy Peasy Kids and Sunny Mummy. Couldn’t live without those thoughtful and inspiring posts! I will cut back internet time and just be me. Not forever looking for better ways to organise my home, but just do it. Not forever looking for better ways to parent, but just do it. Not forever looking for better ways to be better. I am perfect as I am, and I am extremely happy for it. And I am extremely happy Nathalie for the opportunity to join you on this challenge. Thank you for helping realise that happiness is right here with me. Always has been!

    • Kate Youhave just made me so Happy 🙂 it is an amazing realisation and the challenge has made me so much more aware and appreciative of everything, even on urgh days I still find happy moments. There is nothing I want for I have my family around me and that is just the best. If we always wait for happy to happen without noticing what we have, then Happy could take forever. Thank you for you succinct and beautiful way of putting it all into perspective. xx

Now for a happy moment… I saw ‘Midnight in Paris’ yesterday by myself and it really was a happy film to watch. I was happy that I knew the literary and art people who featured in the film (not going to give anything away…), that I knew a lot about writing and art, my two passions. I was happy that I knew the location of the film, Paris, through my third passion, travel. The film also reminded me of my happiest day at work, EVER. On a day trip from London with the design firm I was freelancing with. We were giving tickets on the Eurostar, maps and spending money, free to do as we pleased before meeting for lunch, paid for by the firm. It was wonderful to do all the touristy things, paid for by someone else. The view from the Eiffel Tower is much more enjoyable when, not as a backpacker, you don’t feel like you have to each bread for a week to cover the cost. Or sitting at a sidewalk cafe having a ten dollar beer, is so much more enjoyable when you haven’t had to pay for it.

Midnight in Paris is a wonderful film. Go and see it. It’ll take you to a happy place too.

  4. Happy Moment #26; There is this great local band that we love “The Lamplights”, hubby and I love them and so do our kids. They let my two little ones get up on stage and sing with them. It always makes happy moments. Once a month the band do a family friendly charity event at a local brewery, kids of all ages ride their bikes around the car park and mum and dad can have a beer and enjoy good entertainment. This is how we spent our Friday night. The sweetest moment was having my little ones fall asleep on my shoulder while I danced. We popped them on a pile of pillows in the back of a station wagon where someone else’s little one had been put to rest. Very cute seeing them all passed out after a fun night. I made sure I took pics to so we can relive the Happy Moment 🙂
