My Happy Place Day Twenty

My Happy Place Day Twenty

My Happy Place  today was incredibly  simple. I was going to spend time with hubby. It was hard at first to commit not to do any work today as I always feel I’m playing catch up when I take time off. But I did it and  I spent most of the day cooking with hubby, he went out and got all the ingredients and I stayed home with mum watching Sister Act, it’s one of her favourite movies, she giggles the whole time its on.

It was so lovely to be us, side by side chopping away and having a laugh and putting the world to rights.

I think it is important to have time with your partner and I know how hard it can be to get this time. After 18 years or marriage I do believe its the time we make to have together that has  helped keep us together for now and forever. It’s not usually time outside the home but reading together on the couch, doing a crossword together and even just having our morning coffee alone before the kids get up.

My hubby once told me “Don’t worry I’ll always have your back” and he really does and that makes me Happy too.

  1. That is a really nice comment that your hubby made! and I love that quote how nothing is guaranteed..don’t be afraid, be alive.

  2. Hmmm… I should probably go join hubby now, reading in bed (yes, reading!) rather than sitting at my computer. I8 years is a long time… you must be doing something right!

My happy place for today is reading about yours. It gives me faith that love and strong marriages are still possible these days. Thank you for sharing

    • We have are downs but we always manage to get right back up, we talk a lot, or I talk a lot and he listens (most of the time) xx

  4. My husband and I had a giggle today remembering an old story. I had said ‘uhmmmm’ and he said ‘what does that mean again?’

The story goes like this. I was in Turkey on some day tour which took me to a pottery place. As usually happens, being a tall blonde girl, I was the person picked from the crowd to make something on the pottery wheel. So there I was in front of twenty or so other tourist when the tour leader asked what I was making. ‘Uhmmm’ I began to reply which was then met by loud laughter by all the Turkish men in the room. ‘What is so funny?’ I asked. I hadn’t yet told them anything. ‘Uhmmm is the Turkish word for …… (I will not write it, but it refers to a female part of the body). At the time I just about died of embarrassment but these days I always find myself giggling when I say ‘uhmmm’. (Sorry Nathalie – just realised that this may be too rude! Don’t publish it on your site if so)

Sounds like a beautiful day for you both.

My happy place #20, Is something beautiful that we managed to record and I know I’ll be replaying it for the rest of my life. Its my little one singing.

I would like to share it, just thinking how to do it without making it too public. 🙂

  6. Hi Nat, I’m so sorry I’ve been completely MIA, but rest assured I have been both reading your posts as well as noticing my own happy places, it’s just been too crazy around here to sit down and comment.
Anyway, I’m finally here again, with the sound of my hubby snoring in the next room, so I can share the happy place highlights of the week.
    – Had a nice family lunch last weekend with my side of the family
    – My hubby had a day off work this week on the exact day I was going to have kinder duty, so I sent him in my place. I love when he gets more involved in Mr 4’s everyday life.
    – Caught up with my mothers group for the first time in ages.
    – My dog’s bite wound is healing better than expected so she’ll hopefully avoid more surgery.
    – Had a fun day today at my sister-in-law’s baby shower. I also made some blue and pink cupcakes which turned out great. I’m always happy when my baking goes well.

Glad to hear you had a good day with your hubby today.

    Krys

    • Krys don’t apologise, I know you are always around 🙂 Your Happy Places sound lovely, so pleased to hear doggy is better. Cupcakes nom nom nom xx

  7. I love your post today N. Some of the best times with hubby are late at night once the kids are in bed and the computers are put away. The house is silent and we just sit and start to talk – really talk. Love that we can still do it after 18 years of marriage too.

My Happy Moment for today was taking our kids (with 4 others) trick or treating for the first time. We don’t normally “do” haloween, but gave in this year. It was great. Trick or treating at a couple of suburbs over, then dinner back here with 6 great friends, 6 great kids and a great new bunch of memories.

Enjoy your Sunday – not too much working. Sooz xxxx

    • Talking is a big part of 18 years of marriage 🙂 Funny I don’t do Halloween but I too have been talked into it and we are joining some friends from school tomorrow and I’m looking forward to it. Sounds like you had a lovely time. xx

My happy place today is celebrating my little boys 3rd birthday. He was most surprised to find out he was 3 despite telling him his birthday was soon! After a moment of hesitation he has embraced his new age and delights in telling everyone he is now 3. How time flies!

I totally agree about the importance of quality time with your partner! I had quality husband time today to – yay! Also I actually felt happy and organised using some pretty printouts to organise our meals for the week and my day tomorrow.

    • Yeah to your time with Hubby 🙂 Loving your organisation with print outs I must get a little more organised in the meals department.xx

That’s beautiful! I think your right, all the little moments together make a marriage stronger. My hubby & I cook together all the time, actually he makes the mess & I clean it, but it’s nice doing something together.
As I type this, I’m having a spoonful of Nutella, so I’m feeling good. Happy thoughts + NUTELLA = happy Me!
