Making Time for Family Time
When HB and I were first married weekends were the best! We would laze around all day and just do nothing.. Oh how I look back on those ~sleep in all day~ days, I should of appreciated them more!
Then the kiddos came along and we got busy.. HB was working a lot and I was just trying to survive the week with my sanity intact (obviously I didn’t know back then sanity is the one thing you give up as a Mum) So the weeks flew by and we didn’t really do anything together as a family.. It was hectic and chaotic and I didn’t like it at all..
I wanted to share special time together as a family, where we could just take five minutes to enjoy one another. so I started “Sunday is Family Day”.. much to HBs horror.. HB thought Sunday was Golf day so it took a bit of convincing to get him in on this new idea.. But finally I managed it and now we make sure we do something together every Sunday..
Family Time on a Sunday
It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money, it can be a trip to the park, or a bike ride.. Sometimes we just pop some popcorn and watch a movie all together.. (Power Rangers this week.. Lord save me from my boys!)
It’s not about spending big, its just about making the time to be together and have fun in each others company.
We try and organize places to go, this weekend it was a local country market..It cost nothing to get in, and it was a lot of fun! The kids loved the post boxes shaped as tractors, frogs and helicopter!
We ate some blue fairy floss (probably not a good idea now I come to think of it!) and we petted the Llamas, aren’t they just the cutest looking animals?
Do you set aside time to spend together as a family?

Sarah thanks for being a Star Blogger. It is important to get time with the whole family, and it’s quite hard for all of us to go out because of my mum, but we play games in the garden, board games, cook and watch movies together.
Thanks for having me on your blog. You can have just as much fun at home, its all about making time.. we have family movie night once a week (if we can) and its really great to just spend an hour or so together.x
I agree full heartidly with the importance of making the time for ‘family time’. We find that the weekends can be filled with house work if we let them, so try to plan on using our weekends more wisely!
its easy to get stuck cleaning the house isnt it? and then come Monday and its still a mess~ much better to enjoy the weekend! thanks for commenting x
Yep, family time is hard to get but it’s important you push for it. What a great reminder to make sure it’s kept as a priority!
its so easy to live together but not spend time together! we really try and make a conscious effort to make Sundays about family time! thanks for commenting! x
Great reminder of what is important, family time, not housework, we can all be guilty of it and you are so right it doesn’t need to be grand and expensive X
Sometimes we do forget that family time is important!! The housework can wait, family cant!!
Very true and even when we’ve tided up it never last long x
It’s such a hard balance to get right, and I agree it becomes a matter of prioritizing. What’s a bit of dried up weetbix left on the floor (turned into cement) on a Monday morning if you’ve had some family fun?
We try and spend as much time together as possible.
Loved this blog!
I’ve always thought that there is really nothing better than to see families spending quality time together on the weekends. It can be hard to organise, but it’s so worth it!!
