‘Kidspot Ford Territory Top 50: Feel the difference’
“My journey into blogging”
My journey into blogging started around this time last year, up until then I was living under a big rock or so it seems as I have to admit I did not know what a blog was. Setting up my own website and a business Facebook page was enough, well all I could manage and my blog still looks pretty much the same as it did last year it was going to be revamped by the end of March, but you know life does not always go to plan and so it is on my to do list to as are many other things. Originally my writing on child behaviour, motherhood and life in general was written in the notes section of Facebook. My Twitter account was dormant for four months I did not Tweet, I was unsure of how to Tweet. So being nominated for the Kidspot Top 50 Bloggers does feel extremely surreal and asking for votes well it is awkward, mainly because I am still learning about blogging and I more so I still feel like a newbie. Many of the Top 50 Bloggers nominated this year, helped me so much when I first clicked publish. My never ending questions on Twitter on “How do I do this?” my faux pas, my tears at my first anonymous and hateful comment and the support that followed, a support that continues to this very day both online and now in real life too. When I vent about life, work or caring for mum there is always someone with a kind word this makes me feel the difference.
My journey into blogging has really just began, this last year has been a learning curve in so many ways it has been a personal journey that I has help me grow from the inside and given me knowledge about human behaviour that you do not find in books or studies. Blogging has shown me that my ramblings actually mean I connect with others. I am not on my own. Not everyone will nod and agree with what I write about, not everyone will like me and I have learnt that this is OK. It is OK to be me and my blog is just an extension of who I am. Currently who I am encompasses my mother’s Alzheimer’s, it is all consuming as she is on the last stage and I live just moment by moment, day by day.
What sets me apart from other bloggers?
Answers on a postcard please… I have no real idea to what sets me apart from other bloggers. So I went through my blog posts and the only thing that I can see that sets me apart is that I really am all over the place when I blog. Initially I blogged about child behaviour, parenting and motherhood, it is my area of work and my passion. When I wrote these posts I wanted to reassure mothers that I understood what most of us go through raising children, it is not always easy and there are days we want to run away. Because I work and study behaviour sometimes the last thing I want to blog about is behaviour and really there is such an influx of parenting advice that I try and steer my writing more so into the why’s of child behaviour and now that includes my personal life , my feelings and my thoughts are typed away for all to see, now crossing over from my professional life as Easy Peasy Kids into my real life. An area where I have to be careful of what I share and say as I have to keep in mind, that the families I work with also read my blog. I have a code of ethics to adhere to. Since opening up about my life and crossing my business with my personal life, I have become much busier with Easy Peasy Kids, a mother who called recently said “I called you because I read about you on your blog, I read about your life and I feel I know you, I trust you”
I still have a lot to say (sorry) and I still have a lot to share and this year of blogging has taught me so much about myself, about behaviour and about life. The good outweighs the bad and the blogging community is a tough, raw, real and honest. I have laughed so hard reading blogs that my Mr who still does not quite get it looks at me with you know one of those looks. Crying well I have done that too reading blogs, there is such a genuine connection although we are all incredibly different, some things affect us all.
My grammar, spelling and my over enthusiastic use of the spacebar may not be that of a journalist or writer, I snatch minutes of time to blog in between work and family life, I admit I have publish without another proof read, I like to live on the edge…
I want to wake up in that city that doesn’t sleep and you could win $5000
How long does it take to write a wrap up about yourself and ask for a vote? Far too long and staring at a blank screen does not help. So I will keep this part brief; I would love to wake up in a city that doesn’t sleep it would feel like home. It would be all my birthdays at once and I would do the happy happy joy joy dance for atleast a week, wouldn’t any Blogger? It is a trip to New York to attend BlogHer and also the opportunity to drive a spanking new Ford Territory for a year. My only concern would be keeping the Ford Territory clean for a year with the hockey kits, the odd Maccas and my constant coffee cups.
So here it is you can vote for any of the Supercalifragilstic Top Fifty Bloggers here and YOU have t the chance to win $5000. Does that mean when I vote for my favourite which will be hard to choose that I could win $5000? It really is a win win all round.
Thanks for reading and for being part of my life. Nx
